Embracing your skin in your 30s.

Embracing your skin in your 30s.

December 01, 2017

During your 30’s the growth hormones start to slow down, so the skin won’t repair itself as it did in your 20s. Breakouts can often occur and you may be dealing with dark spots, acne scars and fine expression lines that were never there before. It’s definitely time to take your skin seriously. But don’t freak out. Have a look below at some important skincare habits to adopt in your 30’s.

Daily skincare basics

When it comes to skin care basics, everyone needs a quality facial cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. They’re not negotiable. The skincare products you used in your 20s might not be appropriate for your skin now. If you’re not sure of the best products for your skin come in and see us for a no obligation, no charge, consultation.

Always apply sunscreen

Although not limited to when you're in your 30s it's still a must to wear sunscreen every day. It should be done even if you're not outside much. The sun can trigger inflammation in the skin that leads to premature ageing as well as skin cancer. The best approach is to fend off harmful rays before they begin to do visible damage. Try Coola Sunscreen. This luxurious sunscreen offers broad spectrum, and high performance natural sun protection.

Avoid sugar

Sugars increase the effects of ageing and can worsen skin conditions like acne and rosacea. It activates inflammation and binds to the collagen - making the skin rough.

Make eye cream a part of your routine

The eye area has virtually no oil glands and is the first area of the face to show aging from facial expressions like squinting and smiling. Protecting this area is essential. We recommend Youth Essentia Eye Gel. Its jam packed with anti-oxidants, peptides and powerful vitamins. Perfect for keeping those pesky lines at bay.

Introduce anti-ageing products

By starting in your 30s, you can successfully prevent signs of ageing so you’ll have less to deal with later. Retinol is the one ingredient that’s widely agreed upon as an anti-ager that actually works. Using treatments that contain vitamin A help to stimulate collagen levels and skin turnover. We recommend Environ’s moisturises. There’s some serious science behind them, with a step-up system for your skin to get used to the concentration of retinol (vitamin A).

Get in your 8 hours of shut eye

Odds are you didn’t get in a full 8 hours sleep in your 20’s. This takes a toll on your skin, as it’s when the skin repairs itself. The longer you sleep the more time it has to do that. We recommend sleeping on a satin pillowcase so that the skin doesn’t crunch against the pillow and sleep lines won’t form.

At Embrayce we really care about helping you look the best you can and empower you to make the best choices. If you're not sure about what skincare to use, that would be the best for you, come in and see us for a free consultation.
